Description
This Double DIN stereo upgrade kit is designed for BMW X3 E83 models from 2004–2010 with factory climate control. The kit allows the installation of a modern aftermarket Double DIN stereo, including features such as Bluetooth, DAB, Apple CarPlay, or Android Auto, while maintaining the functionality of the original steering wheel audio controls.
The kit includes a Matt Black fascia plate, a BMW K-Bus steering wheel audio control interface (QUADLOCK), a universal patch lead for the interface, and a Male Fakra to Male DIN aerial adapter cable for connecting your new stereo to the factory antenna. This ensures a clean, OEM-style installation without cutting or modifying factory wiring.

Fascia Adaptor
This Double DIN fascia plate is designed specifically for the BMW X3 (E83) 2004–2010. Finished in sleek Matt Black, it provides a stylish solution for installing a modern aftermarket stereo. The fascia relocates the factory climate control panel and switches to accommodate vehicles with a 5-switch panel opening, ensuring that all controls remain functional.
Please note, dashboard modification is required to complete the installation. Once installed, this fascia enables a professional, clean finish that integrates seamlessly with your BMW X3 interior, allowing you to upgrade to modern features such as Bluetooth, touchscreen navigation, or DAB radio without compromising style or functionality.
Steering Wheel Control Interface
Steering wheel control interface and adapter cable for various BMW cars to fit an aftermarket radio upgrade. The cable adapts from the Quadlock connector in the car to standard ISO aftermarket ISO connectors. This replaces the need for a separate ISO radio replacement adapter cable.
The CANbus steering wheel control interface is built in to the adapter cable for a plug and play installation. This interface will allow the original audio control buttons on the steering wheel to work with the new aftermarket radio.
OTHER NOTES
Some BMW cars go into Eco mode and the +12V supply to the radio drops causing the memory of the new radio to be lost, these cars will need a power supply directly from the battery to be supplied.
Cars with original parking sensors will require an additional interface to retain the parking tones, part number 42-CXPDC Installation instructions are included.
Antenna Adapter Cable
Male Fakra to Male DIN antenna adapter cable. This cable adapts from a fakra antenna connection at the back of the cars original radio to a standard aftermarket DIN antenna connection to allow the fitting of an aftermarket radio upgrade. This is a passive adapter cable, not suitable for cars that need a phantom power supply to turn on the antenna amplifier.
Universal Patch Lead
Universal patch lead to be used with In car Tec 29- series steering wheel control interfaces. This cable plugs into the 29-Series control box and connects to the 3.5mm socket or single wire on the back of the new head-unit.
Suitable for Use with Alpine, Clarion, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, Zenec, Philips, Dynavin and non branded Chinese head units.
PLEASE NOTE: Some minor modifications are required behind the cars factory dashboard, this involves relocating the factory climate control panel and switches to allow room for the aftermarket car stereo. We recommend this is completed by a professional car audio installer. Please see instructions for full kit preparation and dashboard modifications.
Important Fascia:
- The fascias are made to suit industry standard sized stereos such as Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony etc, NOT INCLUDING China units or unbranded units.
- China units have a reputation to be over sized and may require modification to the fascia to allow it to fit.
- We do not take any responsibility for China units not fitting as they are not industry standard size.
